Honky-tonk Lagoon

Nothing like Bob Dylan’s Memphis Blues Again* to conjure the ethereal blur of paint and water connecting and contrasting with the sharp spikes of forms bravely holding their post. It was as if he was singing and reaching through the speaker to let me know it is all okay. “Not even you can hide, You see, you’re just like me*” inspired Honky-Tonk Lagoon, another line from Dylan’s Memphis Blues, as my subconscious led my hand along the rectangular trays of pigment and landed on this paper. This painting represents lifting myself up while allowing others to join in that celebration of self-love.
