Lady Lazarus’s name sake comes from Sylvia Plath’s poem. As I engage more and more with the written and spoken word, I have a new appreciation for the various expressions of creativity. Plath’s thoughts about life and death speak to me in a familiar whisper. Lady Lazarus’s creation came about during this May’s Super Flower Blood Moon. There was extreme weather patterns the days leading up to this lunar eclipse. I felt a calmness in the presence of the storms. Like Plath, I live life bouncing back and forth from storm to storm, from joy and despair. My chakras are visible in the center rainbow palette, though they came about subconsciously, reminding me of the power within and it’s potential to heal. This insight I intend to take forward into my paintings to come.
